Hawaii’s rich volcanic soil, abundant rain and warm tropical climate provide the optimal growing conditions needed for ginger and turmeric to become highly potent and flavorful. Big Island ginger has an elegantly clean spice. Turmeric’s mild bitterness blends well with distinct spice of ginger.
We believe that the health benefits of local herbs and spices ultimately come from understanding their unique culinary properties, using them freshly preserved to best express flavor, and being able to enjoy the complexity of flavors in unique blends with authentic ‘real’ ingredients. In many traditional cultures, use of such ingredients are deeply embedded into the food culture, where consuming healthy tea is just part of the daily ritual.
Skillful production of tea is two fold, taming the inherent bitterness of antioxidants present in the raw tea leaf and expressing the subtle nuances of flavor through the presentation of brewed tea. Blending tea is also an expression of balancing the flavors of a variety of beneficial compounds. In addition to the Ginger and turmeric in this blend, we added Ceylon Cinnamon to highlight the clean taste while bringing out deeper flavor.
Ingredients: Green Tea, Ginger, Coconut, Ceylon Cinnamon, Turmeric, Black pepper
Health benefits:
Ginger has long been used for helping digestion and relieving problems such as nausea, motion sickness and loss of appetite.
Coconut has recently been found to be a good fat which when consumed in quantities helps to burn fat and provide satiety, eliminating hunger. It is also good for moisturizing hair and skin and for promoting a healthy brain.
Ceylon “true” cinnamon (cinnamomum verum) is commonly distinguished from cassia, saigon, or Chinese cinnamon. True cinnamon contains lower levels of coumarin which is known to cause liver damage and is more mild, sweet and complex than its close relatives.
Turmeric is known for superior anti-inflammatory properties, strengthening liver function, and protection against Alzheimer’s disease.
Black pepper is nutrient rich and along with coconut oil, helps to increase the effectiveness of turmeric.
